India’s main grain producing region, Punjab, bans the sale of glyphosate herbicides

KS Pannu, secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of Punjab, said, “The Central Pesticides and Registration Board (CIB&RC) recommended that the herbicide be used only in tea gardens and non-crop planting areas. This small area is associated with crop cultivation through rivers, and some areas are between row crops, orchids and rivers/drainage roads. These areas are also part of the farmland."

The Punjab Farmers’ Committee had previously recommended a ban on glyphosate sales in Punjab.
